Texas Longhorns Spring Football

The Texas Longhorns football team leaves the past behind as they move forward into a new season. After an undefeated season in 2009, Texas’ loss to Alabama in the National Championship game was a sad day for Longhorn football but still they have good college football betting odds. Looking forward, Coach Mack Brown feels good about his new team being lead by his new QB, Gilbert Garrett.

In the 2010 Rose Bowl game, after Colt McCoy was sidelined with an injury, the true freshman quarterback, Garrett, took over and led the Longhorns to within three points of victory before time ran out. Greatness is expected from the new starting QB for the 2010 season and in the Orange-White Spring Scrimmage, Garrett and the Longhorns did not disappoint.

As a group, the Freshman class of 2010 has impressed Coach Brown, who expects that some returning upperclassmen may have to work extra hard to keep their starting spots. Longhorn recruiting typically gets some of the most outstanding high school players in the country, and this year is no exception.

On offense, other impressive stand-outs include Sophomore Tight End, Barrett Mathews, and catching passes from Garrett with seemingly little effort. Red-shirt freshman, Chris Whaley at Running Back may be talented enough to give the Longhorns the successful running game that has been lacking. Wide Receiver and sophomore, Marquise Goodwin returns for another season as possibly the fastest player of all Big 12 Division athletes. Goodwin showed some skills in big games last season, as a freshman, scoring on timely touchdowns and kickoff returns.
