NCAA College Football: Oregon Ducks Offseason
After the Ducks made it to the Pac-10 championship and a berth to the Rose Bowl, their offseason has been full of discord.
Wide receiver Jamere Holland’s series of Facebook posts, including one that was racially charged, and the other about his fellow teammate, linebacker Kristian “Kiko” Alonso, who was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, lead to Holland getting kicked off the team for violation of team rules. Alonso was one of four players to see himself in legal trouble this offseason. Three others were in a street fight resulting in two heading to court, and the other deciding to leave the team.
Running back LaMichael James, sports picks reviews star, was arrested on domestic violent charges. James’ girlfriend told police that James choked and pushed her to the ground. The woman received an abrasion, but hospitalization was not needed.
Then there’s running back LaGarrette Blount, Head coach, Chip Kelly, will make the decision whether or not to reinstate him. Blount was suspended for the 2009 season following a punch to Boise State’s Byron Hout in the opening season loss to the Broncos.
On a more positive note, many fans believe that senior quarterback Nate Costa’s smooth approach gave him a good chance at getting the starting job, but are still unsure of him after three knee surgeries. The more flashy redshirt sophomore, Darron Thomas, made significant strides to give Costa some competition, coming off the bench during the 2009 season to throw for 215 yards and three touchdowns.
