NCAA Football: Seantrel Henderson released from commitment
On July 6, 2010 Seantrel Henderson was released from his National Letter of Intent with the University of Southern California. Head coach Lane Kiffin said that there would be zero penalties and no restrictions on Henderson for him walking away from the deal.
Henderson wanted out of the commitment that he signed on March 22, 2010, with the USC Trojans after the NCAA posted a four year probation on the school and a two year post season ban, following a four year investigation into the controversy surrounding Reggie Bush from the 2004 season. Bush received gifts and was in contact with agents, which broke NCAA regulations.
The Offensive Lineman from Saint Paul, Minnesota is keeping his future plans quiet but may be leaning towards going to Miami now that his deal with USC is done. Henderson is the 2009 Minnesota player of the year and 2009 USA Today Offensive player of the year. He is also a two time USA Today All-USA First Team for 2008 and 2009. With all these actions taking place, it will be an interesting college football season preview.
Lane Kiffin and the Trojans are still hoping that Seantrel Henderson will reconsider coming to the University of Southern California, but at this point in time, that seems very unlikely. Whoever gets this young kid should have a good season.
