Oklahoma Sooners season preview: NCAA College Football
The Oklahoma Sooners, without their Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Sam Bradford, enter the 2010 NCAA season, although in 2009, Bradford 2 key shoulder injuries made them crossed that bridge.
Star quarterback Landry Jones and talented senior running back DeMarco Murray returns to Oklahoma. In the 2009 campaign, Jones got his feet wet and over 2009; he learned enough to make Oklahoma’s current offense an improvement.
To the NFL on offense, Oklahoma lost other key players. Over the middle, Germaine Gresham was a big target that Landry Jones will have to live without. Jones will still have a talented incoming freshman, Kenny Stills, who can be an immediate starter and Ryan Broyles as a solid receiver.
A freshman quarterback, Blake Bell was also recruited by Oklahoma. In his sophomore year, he is expected to compete for the starting quarterback spot, but he could compete with Landry Jones now, if he shows well during preseason practice.
Trent Williams will be another key loss on offense. On an offensive line, Williams was the only bright spot that could not keep clobbering of Sam Bradford. For Oklahoma, the offensive line will be critical to keep Landry Jones comfortable in the pocket and on his feet.
With the loss of big man Gerald McCoy, the defense will have to cope on the defensive line. McCoy was a leader on the sideline and he was the key component on the defense. On defense, linebacker Travis Lewis is expected to be the team leader but replacing a man like Gerald McCoy, will be tough.
