NCAA Football – NCAA considers Pac-10 title game locations

The NCAA is mulling over several possible sites for the Pac-10 championship game, including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle and Glendale, Ariz., according to ESPN.

Other cities under consideration are San Francisco, Oakland and San Diego.

ESPN said there is also the possibility the title game also could be played at the campus of the higher-seeded team, something that would happen because of the geographical size of the conference.

The NCAA is considering the move in light of problems in other conferences. For example, the ACC has been hurt by poor attendance when the title-game teams were not located near the chosen site of the championship game.

Las Vegas would be considered because of its centralized location and attractiveness as a destination, though stadium size would be a concern. Vegas attract college football betting experts all the year round.

Bad weather could be a concern in Seattle, and using the Rose Bowl when regular-season games are played there might make it a less unique attraction than an NFL venue.

The Pac-10 athletic directors will meet Oct. 6-7 in San Francisco, and the presidents and chancellors will convene there Oct. 21.
